  • Dont cloud the issue by trying to compare 2 people it won't help, they should with a supporting letter from the GP agree to a home visit.

Hi, any advice would be appreciated.

My mother and brother both qualify for pip. They both applied within a few months of each other however my brother is 10x more unwell than my mother, yet they've gave her an hove visit without request. We've requested and sent doctors letters in requesting a home visit for my brother as he his home bound and it is impossible for him to go (the center is 30+ mins away). They have said that they cant do a home visit for him even though he cant get, but they're willing to do 1 for my mother, at the same address. Fair enough she too probably couldn't get, but there is a better chance that she could compared to my brother.

Any suggestions as to what to do would be appreciated. Especially seems without a home visit for my brother his claim will be cancelled. They've already tried to do a paper based as well but couldn't get enough evidence, hence why they scheduled an in clinic appointment.

Hi, could well be because your mother is older ?

Limit to the name of home visits allowed in area, month , year ?

Or because two home visits at one address ?

Have you looked at what was put in asking for home visit, did your mothers have more reasons for an home visit than your brothers ?

Or was the reasons for home visit too alike ?

  • It seems to be pot luck as to who gets a home visit. Why is he housebound- does he have a physical disability or mental health condition?
If the application form he sent in or any other evidence indicates he is able to, or does, attend GP or hospital appointments or leave the house for any other reason then the assumption is he'd also be able to attend an assessment centre.
