Universal credit claim question

Hi all,

I was just wondering, if you make a claim for UC and you are invited to make an appointment to take in your ID because you can’t be verified using one of the verification companies, does your claim start from the date you take the ID in or is it backdated to the date you actually made the claim on?
Thanks

Provided processes are completed within the required timescales the claim start date is still, to the best of my knowledge, the date on which the claim was made.

There will need to be a separate appointment to agree Claimant Commitment before claim is actually complete anyway.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • Your claim goes from the day you created your account. You then have 28 days to book appointment. So don't worry about the Gov.uk verify thing
