Shared parental leave for PT worker.

Hi
I am a Part Time worker in public sector. I do 50 percent of the hours to my fellow FT colleagues.
I am looking to apply for six months of Shared Parental Leave (my wife is only taking 6 of her 12 month entitlement)
I see on ACAS website the following: PT workers have the right to "have the same entitlements to annual leave and maternity/parental
leave on pro rata basis as full-time colleagues"
I can understand having pro rata number of AL days. But does this imply I would only be entitled to half if the six months of SPL that I will be requesting? I doubt so bu the wording is ambiguous.

You get the full six months.0

Speak to your employer and clarify it with them. Or the union if you prefer.
Though I personally would assume that it means you can have the full 6 months off, but your *effective* time off is linked to your contracted hours.0 -

Quite so - it's six months leave at 50% of FTE - and as OP doesn't work the 'other' 50%, that means the full six months off as parental leave.0 -
Many moons ago (ten years I think!), I was sick for ten weeks which brought me to, and past, the financial year. It meant I was unable to use all my AL and had 13 day left come April. 5 days carried over but 8 lost.
At the time I emailed HR and asked if these could be reinstated as I was prevented due to sick. I was basically laughed at and told that its never been done before but I was welcome to contact the CEO on his yacht and ask him
Reading online, I see that he was wrong and I could have actually had the full AL reinstated as it was due to long term sick.
Would, in law, I be able to reclaim these days even though they were from a decade ago? I no longer have the email as it deleted due to the GDPR gubbins!

No - you had 6 years to chase them so that boat has sailed.0 -
At the time, HR might not have been wrong. I think the legislation allowing you to carry them forward is more recent than 'many moons ago'.Signature removed for peace of mind0
