Entry process
The competition opens at 1.01 am on Thursday 10th January 2019. The deadline for entries is 11:59pm on Thursday, 18th April, 2019. Entries received after this deadline will not be considered.
Entrants must submit a joke of no more than 200 words in length. Entries must be written in English. Jokes do not need to be original but they do need to be appropriate for children age three to 13.
Entrants must submit their favourite joke via The Book People Ltd entry page or by downloading the entry form from the entry page at https://www.thebookpeople.co.uk/giggleninja and returning via post.
Alternatively, if the child’s school is hosting a Book People Book Fair during the spring term, children can fill out the back of the Book Fair leaflet, hand it to their teacher and the teacher can post all their students’ entries to us.
All postal entries must be sent to Giggle Ninja, The Book People, Salisbury House, Weyside Park, Catteshall Lane, Godalming, Surrey, GU7 1XE before the closing date. Entries received after the closing date will not be submitted.
All entrants must provide the joke, child's name, age, the parent/guardian or teacher's name, email address and phone number plus the name of the school which the child attends.
If a parent, guardian or teacher is submitting more than one child's entry online, please note that each entry must be submitted individually in order to collect relevant permissions. We're sorry; we are unable to accept bulk entries online.
Entries submitted in any other way will not be considered.

The prize
Head judge Dermot O’Leary will choose his favourite joke which will determine the overall winner of the competition who will win the ‘overall prize’.
If more than one child submits the same joke that is chosen as the winner, up to the first five who submitted (by date and time) will win the ‘overall prize’.
The ‘overall prize’ for favourite joke, chosen by Dermot O’Leary, is £250 RRP worth of books from Book People for the child and a further £250 RRP worth of books for their school.
