Driver admitted fault then changed mind

Hi
Quick one, I was reversing onto drive backing up on to property.
I had checked and it was safe to do so no vehicles, I was literally seconds from completing when a car came flying down the road and went round the back of the car.
It mounted the kerb and part of our drive in attempting to get round the back of the car. Driver was all apologetic at the time admitting fault and there were side scuffs to that car consistent with hitting the back of ours.
However by the time they got home and we asked for the damage to be repaired as they had offered they changed tact and are now suggesting they are not at fault.
They have dashcam footage which shows them a good way from the property and our reversing car and as such I would expect that they should of had enough response time to break, there was no right of passage and the vehicle ended up on the right-hand side of the road, round the back of our car and on part of our drive.
Our insurance are saying we may be liable as car was reversing but this is not as clear cut given the car was in a side ways position and backing up onto a drive. There was no way we could get out the way and the other vehicle judging by the dashcam footage had ample response time. Has anyone else experienced similar and had a fair outcome. What makes me angry is the blatant stupidity and lies, also had anyone been on the footpath at the time they'd of been run over but somehow the driver may get away with this just because the car was in reverse mode! and I stress the car was not reversing into a side street or out onto a main road, the other vehicle tried to squeeze through a non existent gap.

Leave it to your insurance company. Its what you pay them for.
Call their bluff, dash cam footage doesnt lie.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
It's not for drivers to accept liability, and roadside admissions of liability like this don't "count"
Your insurers will decide how to deal with this. You will have agreed to allow this when agreeing to the TS & CS when buying the policy
If you feel you have not been treated fairly when the matter is concluded then your route to go down is a complaint in line with your insurance company complaints procedure
Then if you are not happy with the reply or they ignore you for 8 weeks you can escalate to the FOS for their adjudication at no cost to you0
