First Registration Scotland

I bought a property in Scotland 15 months ago and have decided to rent it out. My current lender doesn't allow this so I have arranged a buy to let re-mortgage with Skipton Building Society. I have now discovered that the property is currently undergoing first registration, which I had never heard of until yesterday, and Skipton are pulling out of the deal because of this. My solicitor is telling me that there is nothing I can do until the Land Registry office in Edinburgh has finished their work but they are still processing properties from Jan 2017.
Is there any way to speed up this process?

Yes, applications can be expedited if they meet the necessary criteria (sounds likes yours should, and your solicitor should also know this!):
