Advice: Was I Misold/Conned on Business Insurance

So I have a limited company, for years I was paying around £3,000 a year for public liability insurance, about 2 years ago I switch providers and have basically the same coverage - if not more - and it's around £350 a year..... yes, over £2,500 LESS

Is there anyone I can speak to or get in contact with who can tell me if I was screwed over with the first provider because the difference is just ridiculous and if so who do I speak to / what do I do to make what kind of claim?

TIA

There can be a big difference in the level of coverage given on this sort of insurance. You cannot look at premium alone.

That scale of difference in premium would suggest there was a difference in what it was covering. Have you checked the policy schedules and conditions to see what the differences were?

    What trade are you in?
  • The first thing we need to know is how you purchased this (£3,000) insurance.
If you purchased the £3,000 cover yourself direct with an insurer there may be little redress. They are obliged to offer you 'suitable' cover but only have access to their own rates and policies.
If however you bought the £3,000 cover through a broker then this changes things.
So...how was this insurance arranged to start with?

    Thank you for the replies!

I'm in Photography. I believe the cover covers the same as I just switched so wouldn't have added or removed anything. Ummm, I can't remember now if I went direct or not - I'll try and dig out all of the paperwork and get some proper answers for you.

It just occurred to me with all these emails about PPI etc and how ridiculous the difference is, that maybe there was something going on with this.
