Recently Retired

I retired last year. I contacted my car insurance company to tell them I no longer needed the "commuting" part of my insurance. They reduced my premium by £18 pa pro rata.

Yes it's always worth mentioning these little things, but ultimately costly if not. My two cars are on a multi policy, one garaged the other on the drive overnight. When I got my policy through it stated both were parked on the driveway overnight, they gave me a £23 refund and ammended the policy.

Have you also reduced your annual mileage on the policy. I don't think that will have much of an impact on the price of the premium but worth mentioning and adjusting for future quotes, that's if you do less mileage.

But did you not have to pay a fee for changing the policy, or is that what you mean by pro-rata?
  • Not every insurer charges fees for mid-term making changes to a policy. In fact, I think insurers may find it increasingly difficult to do so when most documents are issued electronically these days.

Just because something is issued electronically does not mean that it doesn't cost money.
All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.

My house insurance premium fell when I retired and also when I paid off the mortgage.
