no claims but insurance has gone up

My home insurance has gone up by 13%.
I do not have contents insurance.
I have not claimed in many years.
I rang the insurance company and they gave reasons why it has increased but none were applicable to me.
Being a model customer, I feel my insurance at least should have remained the same. Or, if stretched, go up 2% with inflation.
Out of principle, I could look around for another insurance company but the effort it would take to save just £18.61 would be counter productive.
Wondering how others feel about this annoyance that happens every year.

Mse advice is never renew before checking the whole market
Many discover by doing so it's worth it as they find much cheaper deals than the renewal price

The bit in bold, do you know how insurance works? The premiums paid by everyone cover the losses of the few.
That said; if you're unhappy with the renewal price then vote with your feet.0 -
How do you know what you'd save if you haven't looked?0

I may save nothing, but I may save a few £s and I feel it is probably not worth the effort looking. My post raises the point that insurance companies should look after loyal non claiming customers. They may loose me, but I feel they think they will not. I wonder how many other products have gone up by 13% in the space of a year.0 -

Yes, I realise this, and when I asked the insurance company if they could give me figures for claims in my area and had those claims gone up by 13%, I was told those figures are not available.0 -
Maybe, but there's no law forces them to do that, they're private companies, it's up to them.My post raises the point that insurance companies should look after loyal non claiming customers.
Why do you think you have any rights to this info?I asked the insurance company if they could give me figures for claims in my area and had those claims gone up by 13%, I was told those figures are not available.0 -
What you need to do is get some other quotes that are identical then go back to original insurer and say you have quote 1 2 and 3 that are identical and cheaper, ask if they can reduce the price.
Simple really.0 -

I had no right and the person I spoke to seemed to think so too. It was clearly a wrong question.0 -
Sticking your details into a price comparison site is probably less effort than writing the number of posts you've made on this thread so far, and is certainly less effort than phoning the insurer and complaining to the guy on the phone who doesn't have access to the underwriting database and hasn't got a clue why your premium is higher this yearI may save nothing, but I may save a few £s and I feel it is probably not worth the effort looking.
Much better to light a candle than to curse the darkness.0
