Hi any advice appreciated got a washing machine from John Lewis only had 10 days but it is faulty. When a I do a wash the timer says 59mins but the wash ends up taking a 1 hour 35 mins as I ended up timing it. The timer suddenly after 39 min remaining will jump back up to 52 mins Spoke to Bosch who said it sounds like there is a fault as it should not take that long for a 59 min wash. I wanted to reject it and get a refund as under 30 days. John Lewis say to do that I need to arrange a Bosch engineer to diagnose fault then give authorisation to collect it. Is this correct as far as I concerned my contract is with John Lewis not Bosch. Really don’t need this stress now have palaver of trying to get day off for engineer.
Thank you in advanced for any advice

Forgot to say can’t blame on Installation as they fitted it

It’s normal and reasonable for JL or any other electrical retailer to confirm fails on a machine before returning or exchanging it, about 50% of faults on new machines turn out to be installation faults and the machine is not faulty
From the fault what your discribing it’s a 50 50 case that it is a machine fault

If you want to exercise your 30 day, short term right to reject then the onus is on you to prove the fault exists and therefore does not conform to contract. Getting out an engineer does this.

JL are wrong on insisting you phone Bosch service they should do it for you, but it’s usely a lot easer if you do because between Bosch and yourself you can arrange an appointment that suits you both rather than JL telling you what day there calling also a lot of the issues can be sorted directly on the phone when talking directly with the customer
When you phone a brands service company on an in guarantee appliance that company are acting on behalf of the original retailer
