Travel Insurance with Depression

Has anyone got experience of asking for mental health conditions to be excluded on travel insurance?

We are going on a family holiday, one of the party was diagnosed a pretty standard antidepressant following being signed off work with stress for a few weeks over a year ago. They are still taking the tablets but not currently 'ill' and don't see themselves as having a long-term condition.

The cost of insurance increases by 50% when declaring a mental health condition such as 'stress' but we feel it is extremely unlikely to incur any insurance related medical treatment and were wondering if we could ask for it to be excluded - we really want the cover for baggage and any unexpected medical treatment in case of an accident.

Has anyone ever done this? Thanks!
