RTA- Total loss claim

Wife had an RTA where she was hit by a third party . The third party and their insurers admitted liability to the accident. Our vehicle has been deemed a total loss and we have accepted a total loss valuation (around £7k )
The firm handling the loss , IMS, have sent this off to the third party who are being slow to respond. IMS have said that they will only chase the third party's insurance once a week and if we want to progress quicker we should claim on our own insurance. This I don't want to do (affecting no claims?) . What is a reasonable length of time this going back and forth should take. Anyone have any experience of this?
We a replacement vehicle on hold but the dealership are keen for us to move on this as are we to bring this case to a conclusion.

How long has it actually been since the total loss report was sent to the other insurer? You'll find me sat in the corner with a pack of dry roasted and a Guinness.0

Was first sent on 21st December and IMS have said they have sent it another 4 times.
We have today contacted the third party insurers ourselves and that appears to have got things moving.0 -
