Courier Problem

Hi, I purchased something off ebay, in mid December, no problems there, but I still have not received the item due to problems with a courier.....I contacted the seller and they informed me that the item WAS collected, on or about the 12th December, so far so good, the courier contacted me on or about the 20th December, saying that they were "having problems", and I have heard nothing from them since.....the thing is, should I take into consideration the time of year ? as I do know how busy couriers get....as things stand at the moment, the courier has my item, AND the deposit I paid for the delivery, both quite low in value, but I am getting rather concerned none the less.....am I panicking too soon ? I just have a bad feeling about things...….Jack.

What does the highlighted bit mean please?
Assuming you paid in one lump sum for named goods and postage via paypal just open an INR via ebay and let the seller sort it out with the courier. Things sent on the 12th (assuming neither buyer nor seller are overseas) shouldn't still be in the system - an INR will ensure the seller gives this their fullest attention as it is their responsibility to get the item to you as they have the contract with the courier.
Incidentally what was the estimated delivery times as shown by ebay?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I paid for the item in full, but the seller stated that it was "collection only" which was fine....I was then advised to use a website by a friend, where couriers bid for the job of collecting and delivering the said item.....the courier stated that they "usually collect and deliver in about seven days".....which again would have been fine.....when I accepted their quote their feedback on that particular site seemed excellent, so I paid a small deposit for the delivery, with the balance due on arrival, however, since then their reviews are, shall we say, coming up as less than favourable…...Jack.
In that case you may well lose an INR claim , it depends on how hard seller defends it and what mood eBay are in. Was this item collection only, no post showing at all? If so a seller in good standing stands a very good chance of winning on the basis that item was collected on your behalf by a courier and that the responsibility therefore lies with you.
I suggest you make every effort possible to get in contact with the courier as that might be the only way of getting your item , was the parcel insured fully against loss?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. O.k, Thanks for that....I have no issue with the seller at all, and was just wondering how to proceed, should things go badly on the courier front....I may of course be worrying unnecessarily, I will try and contact them again......Jack
If you lose an ebay case then your only redress would be against the courier which is why you need to get in touch with them urgentlyI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Who is the courier?0

O.k.....still no sign of the item, and no contact with the courier, I paid the deposit for the delivery with Paypal, is it worth trying to get my money back via them ?.....the site that I used to find the courier is absolutely useless, when it comes to solving any problems, I hadn't used them before, and never will again.....not vast sums of money involved, but it's the principle of the thing, a friend suggests that I contact the police, as it could be classed as theft.....any thoughts welcomed....Jack.
No harm in trying for a refund of your deposit from PayPal, however, PayPal used to have no buyer protection on deposits , I haven't searched to see if that is still the case but it's worth checking. That will of course only get the courier money back at best, not the item cost as well.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you want to claim, don't mention the word deposit.
Perhaps just highlight your service wasn't fulfilled. It would be interesting to see how this is finalised, I wouldn't take a bet either way.0 -
If you provide details of the courier on here, people may be able to help tracking them down.0

O.k....it has now become clear that I have definitely been ripped off by the courier....Here's the full story.....I booked a courier using the Shiply site, to transport an old moped that I bought off ebay….one month has passed, and still no moped, it was collected from the seller, and all seemed fine....I began to get concerned, so contacted Shiply, who told me that the courier had been "struck off indefinitely" because of numerous complaints, and they advised me to contact the police, as the courier still has the moped.....the courier DID contact me, and came up with some story about "a terrible accident" and said that I would get my delivery shortly.....since then no delivery, and no further contact....so is it theft ? or fraud ? or both ?....not high value involved, just the principle of it.....I have no problem with Ebay, or the seller, or with Shiply….just the courier.....what to do next ?Retired (Early) April 20150
