Somewhere for lunch in Calais?

Getting the tunnel to Calais in January with 2 kids aged 6 & 3. Rather than spend ages looking for somewhere for lunch, I wondered if there were any recommendations? We will have a car and speak French so would prefer something non-touristy. Going on to Lille afterwards so can also be on the way there. TIA

  • If you are not bothered about the surroundings and the atmosphere, you could just drive the few minutes from the Eurotunnel terminal to Cite Europe and go to Flunch (French self-service where you can see your steak or fish cooked in front of you and eat as much beg as you like and it's very child friendly) or to Le Moulin a Bieres (does great value Flemish pancakes or pannenkoeken). We always eat at one of these places when we are over in Cite Europe (hubby was at Flunch only yesterday as he works in Coquelles) and the kids get to window shop in Toys R Us after eating and visit the discount French bookshop nearby.

PS the Carrefour petrol station in Cite Europe is now accessible to British credit cards 24 hours a day and is just about the cheapest fuel in the Calais area.
