Cancelling Car Insurance after just starting

Did a search and couldn't find this answer.
Are there any major downsides to cancelling my car insurance soon (1 month) after it started?
I have an Admiral Multi-car policy for two cars costing £1300 (pay monthly). Shopping around I can get like for like for around £850 in two separate policies. Have had this policy for a few years.
Had a lot of family stuff going on, mistakenly thought the renewal started in Dec, it started in November when I looked into the paperwork.
Want to make sure this doesn't "flag" me in any way. Going to phone up for a cancellation quote soon. (Yup a chance to haggle, but want to make sure it's safe to walk away)
Cheers

you can cancel, that is fine, but expect hefty fees if not within your 14 day cooling period depending on your T+Cs."It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"
