Is it a scam?

Three times yesterday, I had the same recorded phone call. "This is an important security announcement from Lloyds-TSB. Press any key to continue". (She had a lovely, almost BBC-type voice). My daughter has a Lloyds -TSB a/c, lives in London & was out of the coun try this week. She uses my address for banking etc. I did not respond as I figured they would have asked for her. Was I right to do this & if so, who should I report it to?
Nice to save.

If you answered the call and the announcement apparently automatically started as a result, why on earth should it be necessary for you to press a key to continue? The message, having started, should be able to continue.
Had you pressed (I strongly suggest you do not if you get another call), I suspect the next phase would have been to ask you to key in your Sort Code, A/C number and PIN (i.e. the telephone equivalent of the well-know e-mail scams seeking to elicit the same information).30 years, 217 days!0 -
Alternatively it could be one of those telephone premium number scams where you press and get connected to a number you cannot disconnect from.
Some people have been cheged hundreds this way0 -
If you get one of these calls (or even one from a bank with a real person), never continue it. Hang up immediately and call your normal bank access numbers - if there is any reason for calling you, they will have a record of it.0
