Dart Charge
I recently sold my car (25/09/2018) it was registered on my Dart Charge account and I signed up for automatic top ups when my account went below £10 (£10 auto top up). I didn’t immediately amend my Dart Charge account (i.e. remove my sold car) and went on 2 week holiday starting 29/09/2018 returning 13/10/2018 and whilst I was on holiday my account was topped up 3 times thus being £30. After I noticed and removed the car I contacted Dart Charge to be reimbursed £30, I explained that I had proof that I had sold the car and that I was out of the country. The Operator basically said “that’s tough” you cannot be reimbursed. I asked to speak to someone senior but the operator said that is the final decision take it or leave it. I immediately went to the Contact Us section on the Dart Charge website and made a complaint.
What I can’t believe is that there is absolutely no way of getting refunded. I understand that I amended my account after I got back from holiday and that the car was registered to my account, but no refund? Come on!!
I would like to highlight this issue to other people who may fall into the same trap and also if there is any advice you can give me regarding this please.

I have the same issue - but its a car I purchased a few months ago....I cannot add this car to my dart account as the previous owner has not removed it from his account so I have free dartford crossings until he does !
Its a whacky system I know but them are the rules.
Only thing you can do is contact the new owner of the car and ask them if they paid for the crossing themselves each time as well as you being charged. They may be in the same boat as me though.0 -
Ok thanks, I have voided the three transactions through credit card company.0

Try and close your dart account and start up a new one, you may need a new email address though.0
