An enchanting fable that reminds children of the meaning of Christmas.
Once upon a time, three kings travelled from a distant land following a star across the desert to a little known town. You may know them as the Wise Men, or perhaps the bearers of gold, frankincense, and myrrh for a newborn child. What few know is that another king set out on the long and difficult journey too. His name was Mazzel and he was, The Fourth King. Unlike the well-known trio, he arrived too late and empty-handed.
And so the story begins…. With his faithful camel Chamberlin, Mazzel sets out in frantic pursuit of the other three kings. But each time he comes close to catching up with them he encounters someone in need. First there was the frightened nomad girl who needed rescuing from a sandstorm, then the lost merchant in need of a guide and even a magical flower needing sustenance. What was Mazzel to do? Continually torn between conscience and duty, the star fades and his journey seems to be all but over...
Narrated by Kevin Whately (Lewis, Inspector Morse and Auf Wiedersehen Pet), The Fourth King is the moving and magical tale of a devoted King who, in sacrificing his life's dream, finds true happiness and contentment.
This magical story was specially commissioned by Channel 4 and directed by Ted Sieger and Michael Ekblad. Available for the first time ever on DVD this November priced £4.99.
The Fourth King: The Story of the Other Wise Man is also available as a picture book, published by Walker Books.
