Has anyone ever checked the emissions rating on the form V11
I just taxed my wifes Mini Cooper S for £290 it has an emissions rating of 199g/KM according to the DVLA.
However if you look on the European energy portals and others the rating is 153g/KM this in effect would make the car £100 less to tax per year.
Funny old thing is that this is the message on the Government Vehicle certification agency :- The data in this publication was compiled by the Vehicle Certification Agency, an Executive Agency of the Department for Transport. Whilst every effort is made to ensure that the information contained on this site is accurate, the Vehicle Certification Agency cannot accept liability for its accuracy. Visitors who rely entirely on the information do so at their own risk.
Sounds like a A*** covering exercise to me?
How much Tax are we actually paying over and above the correct amount, must be millions! Take into account the double taxation when a car is bought and sold we are being absolutely shafted!
just sayin'

What's the emissions as written on the V5? That's the figure you need to care about.
Are you sure the European Energy portal is for the same age/model/spec?0 -
Link to an EU portal to cross-check?
Interestingly the DVLA checker says my car is 114 g/Km ... Vauxhall's own data says 121 g/Km.0 -
Maybe it is a lack of trust that I have in the Government when it comes to taxing us?0

Absolutely. If it's wrong it's because of a typo when the car was registered, and is definitely not part of any conspiracy to rip you off.
Not that you should trust the Government when it comes to anything - incompetence is endemic.0 -
Can't beat a good old unsubstantiated conspiracy theory :rotfl:0

Never brush off as incompetence what could be attributed to simple maliceI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

When you look at your V5C, you're looking at the only relevant figure - the exact figure for your exact specification of car, down to all the options fitted. Weight, aerodynamics, rolling resistance are all affected by options, especially larger wheels.
Google as much as you like, but BMW said when your exact car was new that the correct CO2 figure for your exact car is 199g/km. And that's the figure that the dealer gave DVLA on their automated registration system when the car was new. It would have been impossible for them to give any other figure. That figure stays with the car through its entire life.0 -
Just be glad you haven't got Korbyn taxing you, it would probably be £100 per g!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0
