Making a better future for my son

Hey! :)

I've been reading through a lot of diaries, challenges, money-saving threads etc for around two weeks and they've all really inspired me and brought on my LBM (I think!). I've made a very detailed plan of action to tackle all my debt and I think I could be done within a year but I just can't seem to get started - think I keep having emotional blowouts from overthinking everything:eek: So hopefully starting a diary will hold me accountable, and kick my butt to get me started!

We had probably one of the most common starts to our debt, I ordered some clothes from next and had a directory account pushed in my face (may have had to open one to be able to order, I can't quite remember). The balance slowly crept up and it was great having all this free money, so we signed up for very and a while after that added Littlewoods to the mix too. We got into really bad habits and began ordering constant takeaways, buying flashy new stuff, doing what we wanted without worrying too much about the consequences and sank into our overdrafts. Once we maxed it out we panicked and took out a bank loan to make things right. We didn't change our new habits though and soon slipped right back into the overdraft, and then got a credit card when an emergency popped up one day. We really started to panic and took out another bank loan to subsidise everything, and now six months later here we are all maxed out once again!

Luckily I've found this site before everything gets even more out of hand and we start owing £50k pre-mortgage, but I keep picturing what things will be like if we don't get it sorted. Not being able to afford things for our Son, not taking him on nice holidays or giving him a nice home, wasting his childhood being stressed over money, not being able to set him up for Uni and his future:( I was on my own since early teenage years and struggling desperately for money was awful! So yeah hope I've given a clear enough picture, I'll post an SOA soon and hopefully get lots of great advice and support. If you'd like me to keep up with your diary then let me know, I don't have much advice but I'm good at cheering:j:T
