sick of jobsearching

hi,

I am sooo sick of jobsearching, last night I got loads of jobs off the JCP website and rang them this morning with the numbers, of the 5 that I had for to get info from them for three of them turned out to have "already got someone" according to the employer.

I have been looking for a job now for months, I really need part-time and I can not believe how hard it is to get something... I am not fussy about the type of job nor the hours really ... but still I am looking!!

I really don't know what it is I am doing wrong, I send each employer exactly what they ask for and put a lot of effort in to doing the covering letter. I am feeling really down at the moment about the whole thing ...

Hope you get something sorted Jen,

I know what is like, it can be really demoralising.

On a positive, if these employers cannot see how good you are, then they don't deserve to have you working for them.

What kind of work are you looking for? x

I'm the same as you, except for I am getting close to selling my body (not sure that anyone would actually pay?!)!

My biggest obstacle seems to be that I am either overqualified or underqualified, never just right!

Have you thought about sending out speculative letters to businesses in your area, or do you know anyone who has their own business? At the moment I do some accounts work for a local businessman, and I also tutor some children.

Do you have any call centres in your area? If you can cover the 10am - 2pm slot, or an evening, they may have hours to suit? x

It seems to be pretty much the same here ... I am close to finishing my degree (got 5 deferred exams due to illness last year) so I need time to fit these in, plus also have a dessertation due 14 December...

There isnt a great deal around here in terms of jobs, I cant see specualative CV's having much effect especially since I only want p/t. I have been for a few interviews (cafe and admin work) and neither was offered.

There isnt any call centres in the area that want part-time... in fact there's only a couple I know of in the area.

I am in the same position - lots of jobs on the JCP site are agency and don't exist. I was made redundant in August and am finding it difficult to get a job - it isn't as though I am not qualified but I am guessing now that I am more than qualified for the jobs that I am applying for (no-one wants RSA Stage III Typing any more). When I signed on the other day, they told me that I am doing everything right and not to worry because it could take me 6 months' to find a job.

Mind, I am hoping to land a job on Monday as I have an interview - one that I have had to fight for because I was initially told "you do not match our requirements" so it took a few words from my disability employment advisor at the JCP to swing an interview.
  • I have applied to Sainsbury's (speculative ad) and to Asda (didnt get past 1st group interview), there is no Tesco, Aldi here. I applied for something in Iceland and in Poulton Frozen Foods last week but have so far heard nothing (not expecting to when there are many schoolie's/college students around who can be paid a fair bit less than me).

I have also looked into care work, which I have always said I will never do and I wouldn't be able to start any job in this for at least 6 weeks because of needing a CRB.
