Hi

My claims for my cat who has chronic ulcerative paradental stomatitis has just been refused, because apparently my policy doesn't cover me for dental or gum issues. I have read quite a lot about this condition and it can affect the lips/chin etc, so isn't specific to gums and is a chronic illness, although it can affect the gums also. I just wondered if anyone else had a similar issue with this condition and insurance? and if so what was the outcome?

It depends on what it says in your policy document.

Some policies cover dental problems others only accidental injury.

Although it can affect other areas if it as the result of a dental/gum condition it will come under an exclusion for dental/gum conditions.

You should always read your policy document carefully to know exactly what you are covered for.

If you are not happy with your insurance company's decision then follow the complaints procedure in your policy document.
