Insulated plaster boards vs insulation blocks

hi

Just moved into a property that seems to have years ago converted a garage into part of the house. The exterior walls are one brick thick only and they battoned and plaster boarded with no insulation - it gets quite nippy in the winter.

I want to re-insulate the walls and considering either taking off the existing player boards, sticking in Celotex plaster blocks and putting up new plaster boards. Or, using insulated plaster boards.

My query is how good are insulated plaster boards? Is there a decent benchmark suggesting insulated plaster boards are as efficient as 100mm plaster board blocks?

I want to make the room as efficient as possible but at the same time minimise the depth of the insulation as much as possible... but how good an alternative are insulated plaster boards to insulated blocks?

Any help welcome!!
