It could be someone has reported you anonymously; checking your current situation or bank accounts. More than likely iits just a routine check. You can call them and ask why You’ve been called in if it will help put your mind at ease.

I believe that the DWP carry out random checks on claimants, so it could be that your name came out of the hat. Or it could be because they suspect fraud. As in someone has made an allegation or something has been flagged by data matching.

Depends what benefits is is. You said in a previous post you only claim Carers Allowance. For this you would need to report any of the following changes in your circumstances

    • you change, start or leave your job
    • you start earning more than £120 a week
    • you stop being a carer
    • you take a holiday or go into hospital - even if you arrange care while you!!!8217;re away
    • the person you care for goes into hospital or takes a holiday
In another previous post you say you claim PIP for yourself and Carers allowance for looking after your husband. They might be querying how you are managing to care for your husband. Really without some more information to go on it is just guesswork

Possible but unlikely. There are many couples who both claim Carers Allowance because they look after each other. Simply being in receipt of PIP is no bar to caring for somebody.

Thanks to all for the help, my wife rang them and they said it was regarding a works pension of mine, we do not receive any means tested benefit since my wife inherited some money a couple of years ago, which we declared. when this ran down to below the amount where you can claim again, I rang them and said I wasn't going to bother because I knew my works pension was going to be transferred to a draw-down product, which would take me over the limit again. there must have been a mix up at their end.

Just a quick comment on your pension situation.(if you don't find).
Have you had advice on this?
Are you aware of Pension Wise and the pension advisory service:
    https://www.pensionsadvisoryservice.org.uk/about-us/our-services

Is your works pension a defined benefit scheme?

If you are below pension age a pension fund will be ignored as capital. Any regular payments from it count as income. If you take occasional lump sums from it they can be treated as capital and if below the limit do not prevent you receiving means tested benefits - although this does make DWP very twitchy and they often investigate.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
