Time to Switch?

I just negotiated a new contract with Tesco but not sure whether it's really worth it.

I will now get 6GB and pay £11.50 a month (mins and texts are irrelevant).
I have two contracts, so £23 a month, £276 a year.

But I saw an ad (?) on Facebook for Virgin Media. 24GB for £15 a month.
That's a lot of data, too much really, but I'm not sure if I should switch?

I've come close to the 4GB I have now a couple of times but Tesco wouldn't budge on the 6GB, despite being with them since 2012/2013.

I appreciate the Virgin Media contract will go up, but that'll be in July (next year), and it'll be an extra £1 going on the 3.e% rate from this year. If I get the new contract now, I'll potentially only have to pay that extra £1 for a month before finding a new contract anyway.

The curve ball is the current £40 from Topcashback, which brings the Virgin Mobile deal only £4 extra over the 12 months for both contracts.

Any one care to offer any thoughts?

You've just entered a contract how long is it for?

Make sure the EE signal is adequate in your area, you're used to o2 with Tesco.

Never cost contracts, (or make any purchasing decisions), expecting cashback, there are many reasons why it may not arrive. Treat it as a bonus when it does arrive.

I always find Three to be a useful benchmark with regard to price, for example they have a 12 month SIM with 30GB (all of which can be used for tethering), unlimited mins/texts and unlimited data for TVPlayer and Netflix (Three's "Go Binge"), free roaming in USA, Oz, and quite a lot of non EU countries, cost is £18/month.

Do check coverage and read the terms and conditions carefully. It's not just the cost that matters.

There is no point in paying extra for data that you aren't going to use.

Plusnet currently have a deal with 2,500 minutes, unlimited texts and 6 Mb for £10 on uswitch on a one month rolling contract.

IDmobile currently have a deal with 8Gb, unlimited texts and and 500 minutes for £10 on uswitch on a one month rolling contract.

So the Tesco deal is not particularly cheap especially if you are tied in for a whole year. If you are within the cooling off period, you can leave for a better deal.
