Money transfer would i be better off

Doing the transfer in person in branch or online.

I need to transfer some money (£8000) over to my son towards his mortgage deposit, walked to the bank today only to realise i did not have a 2nd form of id on me dogs danglies i thought and went on my way. I could do the transfer online but am little worried in case i flag my own account for suspicious activity hence why i went to the branch in the 1st place.
Would you do the transfer online or in branch? bank is santander.

cheers

It shouldn't make any difference whether you initiate the transaction online or in branch, as in both cases you've already verified who you are by the time it's set up. They'd still subject it to their security checks if they felt it necessary to do so, but this isn't affected by where the starting point is....

Have you ever transferred any money to your son's account from your account before? If you have then it's very unlikely that this would be seen as suspicious, but if it's the first time it might be held up for a short time while some checks are done. Either way there won't be anything other than a very short term flag on your account.
