Living back with parents

My son and his wife have been forced into moving back to our home, after living at there address for the past 3 years, Reason being my son was made redundant, his wife who is on minable wage found it impossible to keep rental and other bills up to date. We all decided that to move into my home would be better, rather than run up a massive dept.
Doing the right thing, I notified my local council via email to advise them of the situation, wrote a letter to the jobcentre plus to make them aware of the change in circumstances as I am in receipt of ESA.

Checking my bank account details I found that my last payment that was due to be paid into my bank has not been paid into my account. I have had no contact from either of the parties above.

Does anyone know of any reason why this would happen ?

Were you previously living alone? If so you may have been in receipt of premiums which might be affected by your son and his wife moving back in. Payment may have been suspended by DWP to avoid overpayment. The quickest way to find out for certain is to call them on Monday.
  • Thanks.
Yes was living at alone, but not in receipt of any premiums that I know of, just the normal ESA payment and PIP payments.
    Will try to phone tomorrow,
Just wanted to try and find out in advance.

If you have a Daily Living award of PIP then you could have been receiving the Severe Disability Premium because you lived alone. This is the most likely reason for your ESA not being paid. As you're now not living alone you won't be entitled to the SDP.

If you weren't receiving the SDP on your ESA (and should have been) it is possible to get this ESA premium backdated.

It may now be possible for your son or his wife to claim carers allowance on your behalf:

It's worth getting a benefits check.

As Tellit01 says you will need to phone the DWP and contact your council on Monday. We can't tell you why your benefits have stopped.
