HI, IM NEW TO THIS SITE AND THINK ITS A GREAT FIND.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY ENQUIRY,
I LIVE IN A 2 BEDROOM FLAT WHICH IS ALL ELECTRIC, I HAVE TWO STORAGE HEATERS IN THE FLAT AND SO TWO ELECTRICITY METERS, MY QUARTERLY ELECTRICITY BILL IS £280 WHICH I CAN JUST ABOUT MANAGE TO PAY.
I HAVE TRIED TO SWITH SUPPLIERS BUT OTHER COMPANIES ALWAYS SAY THEY CANNOT PROVIDE US WITH ELECTRICITY FOR STORAGE HEATERS AND SO WE ARE STUCK WITH THIS SUPPLIER AND PAYING A VERY HIGH RATE.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA WHY THEY CANT JUST ACCEPT OUR CUSTOM AND SUPPLY US?
PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS IT WILL BE DIFFICULT WITH A COLD WINTER APPROACHING.
THANX

why suppliers should be declining to take over the supply I dont know. Its not our concern how you heat your home.0

WELL THEY SAY THEY CAN SUPPLY ELECTRICITY ALL DAY JUST NOT FOR THE ECONOMY 7 METER FOR THE NIGHT, BIZARRE THAT 2 BIG NAMED COMPANIES(DONT KNOW IF I CAN MENTION THEIR NAMES) BOTH TURNED US DOWN!:rolleyes:0

I would recommend you have a look at these people. The electricity they supply is called Equipower. They do eco7 and they don't charge a 'standing charge' for having a meter.
Much cheaper than the supplier I was using before.more dollar$ than sense0 -
Welcome to the Forum.
Most companies have no problem with Economy 7 tariffs, however a lot have shown reluctance with supplying an Economy 10 tariff.
Are you sure that you don't have an E10 tariff? Or they think you have E10?
Also some on line-tariffs like BG click-energy didn't have E7(not sure for the latest version)
I am assuming that you don't have a debit balance with your current supplier? as switching companies is not normally permitted if you such a balance.
P.S. You are allowed to say who your current company is and which companies have refused you.
P.P.S. I appreciate you are new to this forum and I hope you don't mind me pointing it out, but on any forum it is frowned upon to type in UPPER CASE.0 -
Any alternative supplier will take on your supplies (Economy 7 metering) but it will be very hard to do if you have to pay by meter card system.
Cheapest way would be to look for billing by direct debit and on a monthly payment plan.
I have all my gas/electric/broadband/landline phone with a company but of course we cannot promote their name on this forum. ( and yes I do understand why before anyone berates me!)0 -
Hi,
Providing you have no debt on your account, switching should be allowed. E7 is just a common as a standard single rate meter so no Supplier would have a problem supplying you. If they did, they wouldn't be in business!!!
Check your meter to see if it is E10, historically a lot of Suppliers never updated their billing systems to cope with this tariff so that could be why they are trying to discourage you.
If you're just E7, you should be able to switch to anyone.
Is it possible it is a credit check issue?:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Thank you all for replying, and pointing out about my uppercase writing i apologise
as for credit checks i have never been in debt or anything of the sort, and i always pay cash on time quarterly, so it cant be that.
what is a E10 meter and how do i check which meters my storage heaters are run on.
i am currently with n.p who supply my electricity should i contact them?
thank you allll0 -
Hi,
Npower have no problem billing you on E7, they have supported that tariff for many years. So, you may have spoke to someone who didn't know what to do.
If it's an E10 it should have a sticker on there, plus it would have more than a night & day dial to record. You may just have a standard day rate meter and an off peak meter though.
As far as checking whats on what, you need to be able to check where the meter tails are attached to at the fuse box in your flat.
Npower have trouble supporting E10 meters, but they have just changed billing systems to allow them to do it.
You can either just change your tariff with Npower or swap if it's cheaper. You really need to enter your consumption into a comparison site to find whats best for you.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
