Proof of benefits

I am applying for something on behalf of my mother. There will be a fee to pay.

She is a pensioner and in receipt of credits and housing benefit on top of the old age pension.

If I can get proof of her benefits, the fee will be waived.

How can I do this? She never has any paperwork in her house as once she has read it, she has an annoying habit of tidying it up (aka throwing it away).

Are the benefits paid into a bank account?

Could she/you get a bank statement, redact everything else and use this?

As your Mum's appointee you can phone DWP and ask for a proof of benefit letter.

I do this once or twice a year for ESA.

    OK. Will do that. Thanks.

(For some reason, I was thinking it was covered by Data Protection and they wouldn't give this info out, and I hadn't considered the DWP appointeeship).

When you get a copy wouldn't it best for you to keep it in case it's needed for the dentist, optician etc.

The LA will provide proof of HB if you want to go down that route.
