Hi, numpty Q no doubt but help please. Never done this befor

Samsung J5. Am doing away with EE sim (£19) and changing to Sky sim only (7.5), with a lot less data (which I don't use.

1. Do I have to tell/ask EE anything ? (PAC No ? is this needed by Sky ?
2. I want to retian my phone Nos and photos. Cannot find anything in settings ?
3. When I get the Sky sim, I just pull out the EE one and insert sky one ?

I am sure I will have loads of other problems, but above for now. Seems a good saving. Unlimted call/texts

you have to obtain PAC from EE if you want to keep ur number

    Give the Pac to Sky

As long as the samsung is not locked to EE ??....... Sky Sim should work

Your numbers and Photos are in your google account so no change there but make sure you are sycning to google account

Gmail seems to want me to make this ("upgrade to Gmail email") my primary account. Have always (am used to ) AOL where all emails (not phone Nos) are stored. Dont want to lose AOL, but want facility to transfer phone Nos to new sim coming. They seem to be able to do this in phone shops, but no Sky phone shop !

for you/your phone maybe. Just ried 'contacts' and I get 6 out of 64. Want to transfer the lot to a new sim.
All photos show though. They will still be there when I put in a new sim ?

    'Sim' is not involved.

the phone Google account is all that is required

Neither your photos or your contacts are stored on your SIM. Whilst it's possible to store very basic contact information on the SIM , no phone has done this by default for a long time.

As your contacts are not all showing up on your Google account that means one of two things.

    1) You've turned off contacts sync (it's on by default). Goto Accounts, Google and check that contacts sync is turned on.
    2) You've set the phone to store contacts somewhere else, eg your Samsung Account, phone memory or the SIM. The first two will preserve your contacts after a SIM swap. The last one you will need to copy the contacts from the SUM to either your phone or one of the accounts. This will have the benefit of allowing you to organise your contacts in a better way than "Phil Mob", "Phil Work", " Phil Home" etc. To do this go into Contact app, tap the three dots and the tap Manage Contacts. You can then set the default location to Google or Samsung and use the import facility to bring them in from your SIM.

Syncing to your Google account will even work on a new handset and will re-install any apps on a new and replacement handset.

With the demise of AOL it's rather sad that, in time, things like the email addresses will disappear.
