Travel insurance and for daughters trip to norway

My daughter is planning a trip to Norway with some uni friends. She will be flying to Oslo, getting an internal flight to Bergen and then taking a bus which will be travveling on a few ferries to get to Stavanger. They will be spending a few days in Oslo, a few days in Bergen and then staying at a friends house in Stavanger before getting a flight back to the UK.

Obviously all the flights, buses hotels etc will be booked separately. I know she will need travel insurance to cover medical and theft but will the policies from the sites linked to in the MSE guide cover her for problems with the flights, buses, hotels etc?

Also, are there any travel cards she could get to make things cheaper?

Thanks for any advice you can give.

  • How old is she?

    Travel credit cards link:

Take back up ways of accessing cash. Set up a facility to send money from your bank account to hers is needed.

Policy excesses will usually wipe out any benefits for travel delays once overseas. But Norway is a fairly reliable country, so I'd be surprised if there were any issues.

Policy small print is the only way to know if what you want insuring is actually covered.

If she's 20, why are you having to do it?

Bcause I'm an extremely kind and caring father!lol.Shes actually got very little time while shes at uni as shes got 24 hours contact time, is doing another 30 hours self study as well as dancing in 3 university dance teams - she works extremely hard so I'm more than happy to help where I can. Also it will take her longer than me since shes never done anything like this before.

  • She'd be best with a foreign travel "user friendly" credit card for getting cash at an ATM and/or paying for goods or services.

The Barclay Platinum Travel Card is the best deal IMO - no ATM fees etc. until 2022.

If she can't get one due to her student status, she could be an additional cardholder on yours - Bank of Dad to the rescue again !!!

Norway is an expensive country - be prepared for a hard swallow how much ? when the statement drops through the letterbox !!!

Fair enough, but she'll still have never done it.
