HELP!! Have I sold stolen goods??

Hello,
I recently bought some WWE tickets on Gumtree, then because I couldnt make the show, I sold the tickets on eBay. I received a message from the person I sold them to today, saying that they were refused entry, and that the tickets were stolen.
Theres no way I can get any comeback from the person I bought them from, I know that. Shes asked for a refund or she'll be contacting the police. I suppose at the end of it, I'm happy to give a refund if the goods were stolen, as it wasnt her fault.
What should I do??? Is there a procedure to follow through eBay??

just incase its a scam after the gig0 -
I'm trying to contact Wembley Arena to find out if the tickets were stolen. I have also sent a message to the person telling them to contact eBay, as I's rather this was all done by the book, you know.0

Sorry aboutt hat, how crap for you :-(
I think that if you do end up refunding her, make her send you the tickets first... does she still have them?I:coffee:

i would assume they would be confiscated at the box office0

Hiya...
How did she pay you?
Sorry to say but if it was through PayPal they may side with her even if she is swinging the lead.
Do ask her to return the tickets to you...if they weren't confiscated....before you send any money her way.
I don't supose you made a note of the serial numbers on the tickets did you? In the meantime keep trying to contact the venue. Don't contact Ebay...let her do that. It's up to her to start any process. If she's genuine, she will. In the meantime avoid any correspondance with her unless it comes through your ebay message box and save all!

No, I didnt make a note of the ticket numbers - its not something I would have thought could happen!! But, I think the woman may be genuine, as shes given me a name to speak to at Wembley who can confirm her story. Though, I will still wnat something official before I refund.
She paid by postal order, not PayPal...but either way, I'll wait and see. Sadly, it looks like I've lost about £1500 -
Awww it's a shame. Sadly, a common thing these days eh.
I bet whoever sold or Gumtree (or whoever they bought them off) is rubbing their grubby little hands.
Hopefully she won't neg you, maybe neutral...but is she does I wouldn't worry. You bought and sold those tickets in good faith. Just put that in response.
Hope you have better luck in future

Oh, what a horrible thing to happen. These things are far too common nowadays. It would look as though the buyer is genuine, but make sure you use the proper channels to contact this person at Wembley.
I suppose the only thing you can do is refund her, but I would consider contacting Gumtree themselves to let them know about this. Maybe they have a way of contacting the person you bought them off? Even if not, they should really know what's going on.
Good luck.Everyday I am asked to be a magician, in a world where magic does not exist.0 -
This could be a common ploy, to sell the tickets - report them as stolen or never had arrived at an address and get the venue to issue duplicates, there by making some cash and still being able to go to the event.
Sorry to hear about the difficulties try and contact Gumtree and ElegantlyWasted has suggested.0
