End of lease - paint damage advice
Hi,
My lease (from Hitachi) is returning soon and I have a little scratch on the bumper from where I parked too close up against a pole. Fair wear and tear guide says scratches upto 25mm allowed as long as primer or bare metal aren’t shown.
Can anyone offer any advice based on the pics?

I’ve had a SMART repair quote of £90. Could I tidy them up with a touch up pen and get away with it?!
I’m already having to get an alloy fixed as the total damage had to be 50mm around the circumference but I have 2 scuffs totalling 85mm
Thanks
Ben

It won’t be wear and tear, it’ll be classed as damage.0

It looks more than a 'little scratch' and I would think you will get charged for it. they will probably want a complete respray of the bumper.
I would suggest you get the repair done because the lease lease company will sting you for a lot more than the repair.
I once used a touch up pen on a hired van and got away with it but to be fair I think the bloke checking it was blind :-) as the colour didn't really match in
A word of caution though - some of the people that have a keen eye will spot any repair unless it is bang on so make sure that if you do have a repair done it isn't blatently obvious. Check with the people who will do the repair.0 -

It's certainly into the bare plastic.
Smart repair may be an option - it looks like the surface is scuffed, though, so it's more than just a touch-up pen.0 -
Thanks guys. I wiped over the damage and gave it a little polish and its tidied up a bit and just left the larger 'chip' area. I'm going to give it ago with a but of paint for a tenner, if it looks crap I'll get the smart repair bloke in!
Thanks for the advice

Take pictures of all angles of the car, both in and out. Its amazing how many chips miraculously appear. My take is to get the paint job done properly, leaser paint jobs are always a lot more then anywhere else, they probably add in a % for themselves.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Your £10 repair could double the smart repair cost when they have to undo your work first.
£90 just get the work done.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
