Bose Soundtouch 10 & 20 Complaint

I bought a Bose Soundtouch 10 and 20 for my Personal Training studio I opened back in October from John Lewis in store.
The Bose soundtouch app for ipad had an issue where it would randomly blast the volume out on full and quickly switch it back to zero and in general, just act mental (will attch in the thread below), subsequently this has blown both speakers to a point where the sound quality has diminished considerably.
I've spoken to both Bose and John Lewis and they only thing they suggest is to return the sound system to Belgium (headquarters) to be repaired which can take up to 30 days, in which time I'm left without a sound system in my studio which is not really an option.
Can anyone suggest anything? I'm a bit !!!!ed off that I've spent nearly £400 on speakers and it's Bose's fault they're blown.

Lots to answer there Dan!
First the consumer side. Unless you have purchased as a business (and that maybe needs clarification by you and in law from somebody more knowledgeable than me) then your first stop should be JL as your contract is with them and so are the consumer protection laws, not with Bose, even if they are at fault. Suggest a post on the consumer board forum help clarify?
Secondly it seems from what you write the app was the cause and damaged the speakers. It would be a good idea to confirm that the iPad or it's software or another app (unlikely?) is not at fault.
It might be that JL should offer you a replacement rather than sending the units back to Bose. Part of that decision (if you are considered retail) is time of ownership. I believe that would apply to you. Again the consumer advice on MSE and posts in that forum would be best.
So you could have a quick fix or an annoying wait if return is your only option.
In the meantime I assume keeping audio running for your studio is your priority?
Two easy options.
1 Hire audio gear. A search online should reveal sources local to you. Could be the most costly option if for a long time but might just be the easiest and fastest solution.
2 Buy (or borrow?) a cheap amp/speakers or even computer speakers of decent quality. Could also be quick if you get to the shops, or find something second hand for sale but should be a very cost effective option in the longer term and could be a backup in case of future issues.
In both these two cases you need an amp or powered speakers that will accept an external signal from a headphone output source (something of a lower level than 'line level's or about -10dB should be fine) a suitable cable from 3.5mm jack and the other end to suit what you beg/borrow/steal or buy at the amp end. Powered computer speakers usually come with a jack already fitted. You can then just plug straight into your iPad and ignore Bluetooth altogether. (AFAIK, I'm not an iPad person!!)
Maybe not the best quality but a reasonable temp solution.
If you need more power than a pair of computer speakers then multiples of them or the separate amp/speaker system could be best.
You then still have access to the music you use from the iPad...I presume you play that quite legally!0 -

I sent my Bose bluetooth speaker back to them when it developed a fault (not app based) within the battery.
The company was really good, sent me postage paid sticker and I got it back within about three weeks. They do a 7 day repair promise so the extra time was for pickup and delivery. They also did the repair under warranty.
I could have gone to JL first but knew they would simply send me a new unit and I didn't want that.0
