New Boiler
Hi there
We have just bought our first house. Before the purchase was agreed we asked the seller to have the boiler serviced. They did so and proof that this was done and resulting works carried out was provided to us.
We've been in the house 2 months and noticed the boiler leaking water. Called out the same company that carried out the service. Been advised that boiler is in bad shape and repairs would cost a lot (still awaiting full quote).
The engineer said that due to the condition and age of the boiler he would not recommend spending any money on it as we would continue to have problems.
Really don't know where to start with this. I have seen some company's do 0% finance but would appreciate any advice on how do replace the boiler in the most cost effective way.
Thanks in advance

Get quotes from three independent GSRs is a good way to start. Installers will have their own preferred boiler manufacturer but I suggest that you look at Valliant, Intergas, Viessman and Atag. If you choose an installer that has completed a manufacturer's installation course, then you should get an extended guarantee for free. For example, I had an Atag boiler installed earlier this year. It has a lifetime warranty on the heat exchanger and a 10 year parts and labour warranty on all other components.
Adding a new bolier to an old system is not without risk. It is essential, in my opinion, to have the old system cleansed/flushed. Most boiler warranties are voided if this is not carried out as sludge is a primary cause of early boiler failure. I would also recommend the fitting of a filter. You will be amazed at the amount of iron particles that these filters pick up.
Finally, there is no such thing as 0% finance: you will end up paying for it in some way. Best of luck with your search. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
how old is the boiler? are you on any means tested benefits? if so you may be able to get them replaced free of charge or most of it paid with the numerous grants out there that companys do0
