"Exit" Fees - changing tariff but staying with provider

I'm currently on a BG tariff that expires in Jan 2018 and carries exit fees of £40 per fuel (so £80 in total).
If I were to switch to another Tariff with BG now, will I be charged fees for leaving the tariff only (even though I am staying with BG)?

You need to ask, some suppliers will allow a free change. I think its 49 days before your deal ends that you are allowed to switch to anyone without the exit fee.0

British Gas allow you to transfer to another tariff with them and won’t charge you the exit fee.
I am doing that now as I have decided to go onto the online Jan 2019 tariff.0 -

With only about 6 weeks to wait at most, I'd suggest you wait until the switching window opens for you (as Tom99 says, 49 days before the end of the contract), when you can switch to whoever you want without exit fees being applied by BG
You'll be able to save significantly more elsewhere even vs the cheap BG tariff (If you don't believe what MSE say in their email, use a comparison site today and see for yourself
- but don't apply until the switching window opens) 0
