Just using MSE Cheap Energy Club to renew and it says current tarrif details are:

Gas: 19000 KWh per year
Elec: 4000 KWh per year

Does this sound right? There is 2 of us in a 4 bed semi detached house? I checked my bils on Eon app on my phone, where i submit readings every month and it came out at:

Gas: 441 kwh per year
Elec: 170 Kwh per year

Clearly one of them is way off? Any help please?

You need to amend your tariff details on CEC with your projected usage. MSE CEC has no knowledge of/source for your energy consumption. It is just a comparison site.

That said, your projected annual usage figures are very low for 2 people in a 4 bed house. Look at two statements about a year apart to calculate your projected usage.

  • MSE details are what you entered, these can be changed by yourself.

I think that your EON readings are your monthly readings.

To get a good estimate you need 12 months figures with Actual readings. Have you been providing readings to your existing supplier.

    Morning britishboy,

I'm so sorry to reply so late on your thread :o

The best way to see your actual E.ON usage, is to log on to your full online account, then click on MiData.

You'll then get a breakdown of the amount of energy used for the previous 12 months in £ spend and kWh and what we think you'll use for the coming 12 months.

There's also lots of really interesting other bits and bobs that you may find useful.

I'm sorry if I'm a bit late, but hope it helps.

    Thank you

    Helena :)

Its more likely to be something like 10,000 gas and 1,500 elec.

The first set of readings are on the high side, but not unduly so. Assuming gas CH and DHW, I'd expect your leccy to be nearer 3,500kWh.

I do wonder how people get such low electric reading as you describe!

I appear to be getting 5500 Elec and 12000 Gas (previous property 6800 Elec and 16000 Gas).

Now I admit I like it hot but surely 3500 etc is unfeasably low!

(2 people, 1 WFH, previous property tended to both be out in the day).

National average is about 3300 kWh.
Assuming you are heating by gas, then your temp setting does not affect your leccy usage at all: and the same with DHW.

Britishboy - as others have said the 19000/4000 figures are of the right order.

Can you look again at your Eon app and quote exactly what it says please?

Britishboy If this was right you would be paying about £10 a year for gas and £20 for elec (plus standing charges and VAT). Does that not put a question mark in your mind.

I suspect this is the last month, not a year - gas heating only just switched on, and still daylight hence not much need for electric lights..
