British Gas put me on standard tariff after moving while on MSE fix.

I have just had my final bill from BG while switching to OVO on MSE fix this month and see they have had me on standard tariff since the changeover from the previous customer at this address (Scottish Power) which was in May this year. What can I do? Thanks.

Provided BG was notified by Industry that a transfer request was in progress by the end of contract date plus 20 days, then BG has a Supply Licence Condition that requires it to keep you on your fixed tariff until the transfer goes through - provided this is within a reasonable time. Others have reported that BG has responded by applying a credit to the Final Bill. I suggest that you call BG and remind them of their Licence obligation?

Sorry - I may have misunderstood your question. When you switched from Scottish Power to BG, what tariff did you sign up to?

Do you mean you was on the collective fix and changed over to OVO after the fix ended and they put you on standard in between? If so there should be a credit applied to your account to rectify this. The Supply License Condition says you must be kept on the same tariff if they were notified by your new supplier in time. What BG do is move you onto the standard tariff but apply a credit to offset the difference so effectively you are still paying the same until your switch is complete,

    Hi
Sorry - I may have misunderstood your question. When you switched from Scottish Power to BG, what tariff did you sign up to?
It was to continue the collective switch, but the final bill says standard tariff. I cannot access the other bills on my online account - it has been closed. My Collective fix ended on October 3rd and the changeoever to OVO happened on Sept 26th.

I noticed too that my final gas reading is wrong. I sent it in to OVO on 25/9/17 but BG have added some to it.

So when did you switch, as in what date did OVO tell you the switch was taking place? If you switched on 26th Sept, then your collective fix didn't end on 3rd because you were no longer with them, it ended on 26th when the switch happened. If your switch date was after 3rd then true your collective ended on the 3rd and you went onto standard rate, but you should also receive a credit of the difference to ensure you are paying collective rates until your swap as it seems the swap was initiated in time. On my bill there was a "Miscellaneous Adjustment" to reflect the cost difference.

So long as OVO start reading is the same as the BG end reading you aren't paying twice.

Just to clarify, can you confirm that you were on the MSE collective BG fix at a previous address but that, since the move to a new address, BG have put you on a standard tariff?

You noticed this when receiving your final BG bill on switching to OVO?

i.e. the issue is around what happened when you changed address, and not related to the switch to OVO?
    Not even wrong

Yes I was on the Collective fix at my last address and changed back to BG as soon as I moved, it taking place a week later. I am sure that I was told I was still on the fix which I had requested but as I said, when the final bill arrived today, it says standard tariff. I cannot check anything because they have closed my online account.

They did that to me as well, standard tariff for 1 day, I am going to complain and ask for a refund of the 89p extra it cost me.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
