Finding info in Credit Report

Ok Ok, I've heard enough about claiming miss-sold PPI, and I'm finally doing something about it.

I'm looking for all those forgotten accounts, loans, cards etc as I have no paperwork, so signed up to Credit Club, got my report but where will i find a list of all those cards etc I used to have? I don't think I've had any in the past 6 years, but should the older loans etc be visible? All the reports show from what i can see is my main current account - even my many other bank & savings accounts are not shown?

Look forward to getting some help

Cheers

  • You credit reports will only show the last 6 years. You'll find anything older than that in your memory or filing cabinets.

Many current and all savings accounts are not shown. You don't need a credit agreement for a savings account.

There is no such list of your ancient finance. In many cases there won't even be records kept of loans and credit cards which have been closed for longer than six years.

You could, if you want to, write speculative Subject Access Request (SAR) letters to all your likely old lenders. This will net you any and all information those institutions have kept on file for you. As it costs £10 per lender, and there are no guarantees any PPI will show, this could prove to be an expensive waste of time.

Other than that, raid your own archive to see if you can find any documentary evidence of PPI.

Do note that this is just the first hurdle for you. Remember that it's not somehow wrong simply to have insurance, in order for it to be refunded you'd have to show it was mis-sold to you.
