ASDA cashback monthly charge

I have recently successfully applied for an ASDA cashback credit card giving 1% on all purchases and 2% on ASDA related purchases. When I viewed my first statement to my surprise I noticed a £3 monthly charge. Before applying I had read through all of the promotional material where there was no mention of the charge and also the small print under "credit card agreement regulated by consumer credit act 1974" where there is also no monthly charge mentioned. I have since however checked all of the small print and noticed in the "creation financial services terms and conditions section " section the charge is mentioned. My question is: If the charge is not mentioned under the "credit card agreement regulated by consumer credit act 1974" are ASDA allowed to make the charge . Has anyone else recently applied not realising there is a monthly charge?

Asda do three CC's, two with 0.5% and 1% Cashback and Cashback Start which have no monthly charge and one with 1% and 2% Cashback Plus which has a monthly charge, presumably you requested the latter.
Very clear on their website:

It looks like you applied for, and were accepted for, the ASDA Cashback Plus card.
The £3 monthly charge is clearly shown on the ASDA Money website.

the 1/2% cashback card very clearly details a £3 monthly charge.
The 0.5/1% cashback card does not charge.
It's very clear on the Asda website as other's have stated.0 -
Taking the fee into account you have to spend £150 a month at Asda or £300 elsewhere to break even per month. Anything over this spend will start to earn you real cash. That's if you clear the account in full as card interest will wipe out your hard earned cashback in one quick swoop.0

Thanks for all of your replies. You are of course correct the website does make the charges clear. When I applied, somehow I must have used a link taking me direct to the cashback plus option. Strange that the informational leaflet and all of the other correspondence I have received since applying do not mention the charge.0
