Advice for -1 buyer with confirmed Paypal address

I sold an item for £250 and the buyer paid using a Paypal account with a confirmed address. However, he has feedback of -1 and has been registered since Feb 2005 and has not had traded in buying or selling since the one transaction with the negative feedback. I am nervous about sending the item as I don't normally deal with buyers with minus feedback scores. Am I safe to send the item using Royal Mail Special Delivery (which is the service he has paid for) as this is fully trackable? Am I covered by the Paypal or Ebay insurance if he tried to claim back the money?
I have been stung before by a claim back for a Paypal account, but it is my own fault as I posted to an unconfirmed address - I have learned my lesson but this guy makes me nervous. Am I being paranoid?? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I have e-mail Ebay for advice on the insurance front, but I am not holding my breath for an answery, and you guys on here seem very experienced in these matter. Many thanks.

Hello,
Check all the following things:
- Does the payment definitely show up in your paypal account?
- Do you qualify for seller protection?
- Does the paypal confirmed address match his ebay address?
If yes to all the above... you'll probably be ok. What was the neg for? What type of item is it?
Incidentally.... you can block -feedback users from even bidding on your items - go to http://my.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MyeBay&CurrentPage=MyeBayPreferences&ssPageName=STRK:ME:LNLK#BuyerReqPrefs and set the requirements very strictly, and you'll never have this dilemma againMy TV is broken!

Thanks for the advice. His payment is definitely in my Paypal account, I do qualify for seller protection - but how do I check if his Ebay address is the same as his Paypal address? Can you tell me?
I had set my preferences to block buyers with negative feedback so I don't understand how he got through the net - I have e-mailed Ebay with this query - I await a reply. I can't see what he bought for the negative feedback as it is so long ago.
Thanks again.Bargain Hunter Extraordinaire!!0 -
If he was a scammer the chances are he would have just opened a new account to get rid of bad feedback ( I would do that if my one and only feedback was aneg!). Because he hasn't might just make him a bit more trustworthy.
Might be worth giving him a call to check all is OK?0 -
This will show you his ebay address, and also the phone number (he will also be sent your details)

Many thanks for all your replies. I have received an e-mail from Ebay giving some but not exact details of his address etc. The town matches the one on his Paypal address - what do you think? thanks.Bargain Hunter Extraordinaire!!0

How did you get the address? If that was as a result of requesting contact details, and you got incomplete ones... that's not really a great sign.My TV is broken!

Hi again. His details came through on my e-mail but just his name, tel. no and town. The details about me being sent to him did not include my full address either, just town etc. I am not sure that this is a foolproof way of ensuring a users details. Does it usually give more detail?Bargain Hunter Extraordinaire!!0

Just to say that I contacted Paypal and it turns out that even if you post to a confirmed address you aren't covered by the insurance if the buyer has a feedback score of less than 98.1 which is something I didn't know. There are so many terms and conditions I reckon it is virtually impossible to cover yourself for every single one!
Anyway, I contacted the buyer and explained and he was very understanding and said don't worry about it - even left me positive feedback! So situation sorted - thank you for all your help.

Nor me! I wonder if anyone can find that one in the T&Cs - I have an inkling that one might be one of those imaginary T&Cs...My TV is broken!
