speaking on behalf of a friend who has no internet..
a friend who is on ESA went for a checkup and now is getting charged around 200 pound for the checkup.
he really cant afford the bill, only income he has is from the ESA,
he now has severe pain in his mouth and is due for another appointment in the next few months to fix his problem.. because for some reason he has to pay he doesnt want to go to the dentist again because he cant afford it..
what should he do?

Only income based ESA gives automatic entitlement to free dental care. However there is the low income scheme which could help his situation.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

I don't see the benefits people paying for private treatment, which this must be as an HHS check up is under £20.0 -

well he just says it was a checkup maybe it was something else, he now has a bill for 190 pounds..
reason i think it was a checkup because they just looked at him and did nothing and have made more appointments for him to go next month to fix the problem thats causing him severe pain, if it was more than a checkup when he went last time they would have actually done something, right?
** and note the dentist he went to does offer NHS treatment.0 -
Was this a private dentist? Because NHS rates are £20.60, £56.30 and £244.30
So £190 just seems odd.0 -

With my dentist you pay up front so its quite possible he only had the check up but needed to pay for future treatment.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

In Wales that is a band 3 charge, so it is NHS treatment.
ESA is either contributions based or income based, or contributions based with an income related top up. You'll need to ask him which he receives.0
