Faulty gas meter following change over of energy supplier and a smart meter.
I wonder if any one can help here. I had a smart meter installed in December 16 by EON, my deal was up in March so as usual I shopped around and Changed to Green network Energy, fully aware that my smart meter would revert back to a normal meter.
I am single living in a 3 bed room house, have a combi-boiler, wood burning stove used over winter to heat my living room.Work regular nights so central heating is only on for a maximum of 2 or 3 hours a day, have HIVE and Smart thermostatic on my radiators, double glazing and My gas oven and hob is rarely used as I have meals round my parents.. lucky me.
This is where the problems occurred.
I gave meter reading to GNE as requested.
Received no final bill from EON but I know I was in credit. Chased this up with them who were very helpful and said that my Gas usage was more than expected and they had contested meter reading that GNE had given them. still no final bill to date.
Gave another meter reading to GNE and waited for a bill. My gas usage was up to 5 times more for 1 quarter than for the whole of previous year with EON.
I contested this with GNE who said this was correct! My previous years usage was £75 with EON for a year and GNE's quarter was £450!.
There has been no problems with electricity bills.
I can not smell any gas to suggest a leak.
When putting meter readings into app installed on a regular basis it keeps coming up with too higher gas reading than expected.
I have been in touch again to say I think my meter is faulty but they don't want to know and I threatened to leave and go back to EON.
They said they would send someone round to check meter but still no one has been.
Has anyone had any similar problems with smart meters reverting back to a normal meter?
and any suggestions how I can resolve this issue without paying a mega gas bill?

Smart meters give 2 different readings, kWh and cu.m. If you are giving the wrong one (kWh) your billed use will be 11 times actual. Are you sure you are giving the correct one, your "5 times annual use in one quarter" and other comments suggests it is your reading that is at fault and not the meter.0
