PPI confusion & mental health

Hiya. This is my first post here & I'm looking for some advice.
I've been wondering for quite a while whether I could claim for PPI but having read the MSE list of reasons for mis-selling, I'm not sure whether I qualify & different companies are telling me different things when I try to get them to do a check for me.
Basically what it boils down to is that I know I've been screwed around by banks (though mostly due to them removing overdrafts with no notice) & I have had packaged bank accounts (I've got one now & use none of the benefits - whatever they are), but due to how my mental health was at the time & the fact that my memory is absolutely useless, I can't actually confirm one way or another.
I remember thinking that I was unlikely to use the benefits of my packaged account at the time & I don't remember being told that I could have a free account at all - it's only recently that I realised that I was paying around £20 per month - which is often causing me to end up with daily charges as it pushes me over my overdraft limit - when other people don't pay (I know how naive that is!).
If I'm not certain as to whether I was mis-sold & wouldn't be able to fight my corner on this or my credit card, which I feel I was pushed into as a student (again when my mental health was poor), then should I even bother?
Thanks MSE fans! :money:

Keep it in writing and online, make your complaints.
If you haven't used any of the benefits and are being made overdranwn by the charges [not jsut you overspending] then make a complaint.
The credit card, you'll have to show you didn't nee or want the insurance, so savings, good work perks, being a student etc, will be good reasson to complain.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
