Misleading E-bay ad

I bought an electric fire on e-Bay which was described as a display model but being the "latest" and "stunning". The reality was totally different. It was by its appearance obviously quite an old model and certainly not stunning. Being an old model I subsequently could not find it currently on sale anywhere. Internally it was full of dust and fluff. The fire effect was very poor and the internal mechanicals contributing to this poor effect were quite dirty. It had paint around the edges and around the electric cable.
The seller has said that I should expect the internals to be dusty and dirty because it came out of a showroom, and this was also why there was paint on it.
The manufacturing date had been rubbed out. The seller said that his suppliers were required to do this by the manufacturer.
I paid over £300 plus postage via a credit card through Paypal for this fire so am extremely disappointed.
I would not be interested in this fire even at half the price. What can I do to get my money back?

did you buy it without seeing a photo?
did you only want it if it's the lastest in thing?0 -
A photo was provided, although the item does not look like the photo. It would need some air brushing. It was the photo and the superlative description that induced me to buy it. Both conveyed an impression.0

some credit card company's have insurance cover included for this kind of thing don't they, maybe try your credit card company?0

Seems to me you have a 'Item not as described' Ebay dispute. You would need to send it back using a trackable method. May be you could also consider a chargeback as you paid by Credit Card once you can prove they have received it back.
I am sure someone will be along soon to give you the correct procudure to get your money back.0
