Insulation grants?

Hi
We had a guy around today to give quotes on house insulation and we said at the outset we would not qualify for the means tested grant. However he said that we would get a grant for the loft insulation which was only 100mm thick costing around £125 for 170mm thick over 72 sq metres, quite a bargain.
However the walls were already partially filled from the 1970's and its not effective but because it was partially filled there was no grant... But wht do you get a grant for a loft that has insulation in it but not a partially filled cavity?
