Havent sold anything on ebay for a while. Wife just tried to list some Liz Earle skincare stuff and got this mssg:
Dear SellerThank you for choosing eBay.
Due to the level of disputed transactions in the category in which you are choosing to list, eBay is taking strong measures to protect both buyers and sellers on eBay.
To sell your item in this category you must offer PayPal as a payment method. Please sign up for a PayPal account if you do not already have one.
Anyone else had this? HOw long has this been going on? Shes totally naffed off with it now as only sells a couple of things every few months and doesnt want hassle of paypal.

It's possibly a Vero item, which would mean it's protected as there are lots of fakes around. Paypal would give the buyers peace of mind because they can open a dispute if it turned out to be fake."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

VeRO = Verified Rights Owner
Basically, companies are allowed to control how their products are sold on eBay.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
This is actually nothing at all to do with VERO, it is a newish ebay requirement is some categories. Here is the announcement:

If it's any consolation, ebay won't let me list a hand held wooden back massager for the same reason!! Bizarre?~A mind is a terrible thing to waste on housework~0

I had problems the other night listing my playstation via auctiva - i removed all words I thought it was objecting to, re-did the whole auction and finally contacted auctiva to see why they wouldn't list it. The reason was that video consoles can only be paid via paypal and I had to remove the cheque/postal order options as method of payment. Did this and it went straight through.0

I have been having the same trouble with Ebay.
I just list it with paypal and then tell the buyer in the blurb that it is not an option.
So far it has been ok.
I won't use Paypal they have £200 of mine from 2 years ago and still they will not tell me why they took it or how I can get it back. I have sent all the id etc they wanted but hey ho they stole my cash.
No wonder they are rich. They appear to be above the law.

jellycat you are running a real risk with offering paypal and not accepting it. Anyone can report your auctions because of your terms and conditions and with the new 'buyer satisfaction' rules too many complaints will get you suspended very quickly.
If you don't want to abide by the ebay terms and conditions then you might prefer a different auction site where paypal is not a requirement. There is a thread running at the moment about ebid, take a look at them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
