Balance transfer issue with virgin money to amex

Dear All
I've hit a road block with Virgin Money (still waiting for complaint resolution from them) for a number of failed balance transfers from my new card to my Amex card. I normally take out a new card each year to smooth over large purchases and as part of my stoozing strategy and to date i have had no issues with Lloyds, Tesco, Halifax and HSBC in executing transfers from the new card to my Amex (UK issued) card. I had a problem with Santander a couple of years ago who just couldn't execute it and ended up paying me compensation.
Virgin Money are claimign the issue lies with Amex and Amex are saying they have had a number of other customers who have had issues with balance transfers from Virgin Money to Amex (UK) cards and they are powerless to help.
I have said i have been miss-sold a product by VirginMoney as the card does not perform a key aspect which was the only reason that i took it out. I've said they can perform a cash transfer to my own account (at no cost to me) and await their response.
Just wondering if anyone else has had issues with VM and balance transfers
