Job and benefits.

Hi
I've just been offered a job! The contracted hours are 7.5 and the pay is £7.50 per hour.
My partner works 30 hours and we get working tax credits and some housing benefit.
I think we may have to pay more rent my concern is when it comes to doing over time as I know there are plenty of opportunities to do this.
How would I report this to the council and to inland revenue to adjust tax credits as it could vary from week to week.
I spoke to someone at the council and he said you submit a change in circumstances...... they aren't the quickest to sort things out so can you imagine me updating them every week and it just been a mess
Any idea or has anyone been in a similar position?

Tax credit work on your income for the tax year, they don't work on week to week. You'll need to provide them with your best estimation. An over estimation is always best to avoid overpayments.0

Thanks for the advice0

HB though works on a weekly basis.
I would notify them of your weekly earnings on a very regular basis. Get acknowledgement slips from the LA to prove that you have given them this info, and keep these slips safely.
Do check that the income shown on the HB calculation notices are correct, and contact them if not.
Again keep proof and all your records.
See if there is someone sensible to speak to in the HB dept, as to the best way to arrange this.
You may need to be proactive and organised to ensure under / over HB payments don't result from your fluctuating income.Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.0 -

Hi
So a bit of an update, I had an induction today and was put onto the works "system" supervisor says the start date is today but we won't have any shifts until 9th September so I'm not sure if I should inform the tax credits office yet?
I will inform the council as we already pay over half of rent so the will have time to calculate the wage before I start.0
