I'm worried about what will happen when I start working part time!

I am soon going to start a part time job working approximately 12 hours a week. However, I have been told that I may be able to go full time in a few months. I am signing on at the moment but when I start the job I will be earning a few pounds per week above what the job centre pays, even though it will be only 12 hours per week at first. I'm also getting housing benefit.
I'm a bit confused about what happens after I start the job. I'd like to know :
1) When I start, shall I sign off because I'll be getting more than the the job centre would pay me? Or do I keep signing on because it's less than 16 hours per week?
2) The 12 hours that I'll be working per week will pay just a little bit above the maximum amount before deductions are made from housing benefit (which I believe is the same as what the job centre pays). So I know there will be a tiny deduction and that's no problem. However, will the council be ok with me working just part time and only earning such a small amount? Obviously this won't be an issue once I'm full time but I'm just concerned that they will be hesitant to continue paying housing benefit. Or maybe I'm worrying too much?
Cheers.

if you keep your job seekers claim open, you will continue to receive your national insurance credit towards your pension.
you will still have to look for additional work.
housing benefit won't question how many hours a week you work, as it is based solely on household income0 -
How old are you and how much will you be earning?
How much JSA do you receive?
There is a £5 disregard on earnings when claiming JSA. (You say you will be earning only a few pounds a week over)0 -

I'm 36, the job will pay £96.00 and I'm getting £73.10 JSA.0 -
